How can I do classification based on NDVI image. What kind of process and model can do it? Thanks a lot

You could classifly your NDVI image based on the index pixel values from -1 to 1. Pixels that have a value of less than zero show no reflectance in the NIR band. Values from 0.1-0.2 are usually from soils that reflect in the NIR, and values from 0.3-1 (increasing in vegetation density) are dense vegetation canopy.

Within ArcMap you could use the tools under the Image Classification toolbar. Another option for classification is to use the Feature Analyst extension.

There may be a typo here. To be consistent with the definition of NDVI, "zero" should read "-1". Values less than zero occur where the visible reflectance exceeds the NIR reflectance, which itself could be high. –  whuber May 27 '11 at 20:29
