Possible Duplicate:
Geonames querying for parks in Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands

Hi,

I am trying this query

http://api.geonames.org/search?featureCode=PPL&username=genadinik&country=CA&style=full&adminCode1=AL&maxRows=10

I was trying to get parks in Alberta, Canada. But I got no results.

I am not sure where to get the list of abbreviations for Canada. How would I go about finding the state abbreviations that GeoNames requires for any country?

Thanks!

"AL" does not refer to Alberta (and "AB" doesn't work either). Try the Fips/GN code instead: http://api.geonames.org/search?featureCode=PPL&username=genadinik&country=CA&style=full&adminCode1=01&maxRows=10

As @Mapperz pointed out earlier, the whole list of administrative divisions for Canada (Provinces and Territories) are at: geonames.org/CA/administrative-division-canada.html –  Mike T May 31 '11 at 4:10
