I'm writing an essay about web mapping software and I can't find out is Orbit EOS Lite Free GIS Map Server an OpenSource software or not? Also, I would be thankful if someone gives me some links with some list of web mapping programs. Thank you.

No, it is not Opensource. You require a License(s) - orbitgis.tv/kb/eos/index –  Mapperz Jun 21 '11 at 18:17
