I'm looking for a data-set of Geosocial network consisting of Gps trajectories, chek-in,geotag contetnts and stuff like these available for research purposes.

I'd really appreciate it if you can point me towards such a reliable data-set. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps foursquare API could meet your criteria? You won't find GPS trajectories here but you might find your way to hack some data about users and their checkins with time and location.

Can you explain a bit more about foursquare API? On first sight, I couldn't really tell what it good for and what I could do with it from a mapping/analysis perspective. –  underdark Sep 27 '11 at 7:04

@underdark: I haven't worked with this API myself but stumbled upon examples of mapping apps like here or here so presume there must be a way to retrive spatial and tempiral information. –  radek Sep 29 '11 at 19:18

And perhaps colocation in space could be used to infer social ties? –  radek Oct 2 '11 at 13:24

While not as lively as twitter, Findagrave.com has a lot of from-nodes and to-nodes (place of birth, place of death). Given the large numbers of graves at this site, it seems like a variety of migration maps could be generated.

"..not as lively..." Good one. –  Chad Cooper Dec 12 '11 at 21:14

OpenStreetMap stores GPS tracks http://www.openstreetmap.org/traces generated by mappers, but nothing like checkins or social stuff in the "2.0" sense.

For that kind of social-media resources you should see every social network API to see if they provide geographic information. Twitter, Foursquare, gowalla, yelp, all do it.

Not sure also what you mean by a "reliable data set" in this context.

How about the Twitter API? Here is some more information on the geographic components of the data and API.
