I am in process of migrating a WebADF 931 app to 10 and facing some challenges with depoloyment on 64 bit Server (Windows Server 2008 R2). The website works fine when deployed to 32 bit server but throws errors in 64 bit environment. I have run these scripts to make sure that server is 32 bit enabled (as per suggestion from ESRI). I am still missing some critical setting. I am looking for some feedback on what else I could try to get this going.

  • cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1
  • %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
  • made sure that in advanced setting "Enabled 32-bit Application" property is set to true

Thanks Jay

Is the application compiled to to x86 or Any CPU? You should compile it to x86. – Devdatta Tengshe Feb 15 '12 at 17:31
Thanks for the note, I am able to make some progress. I am seeing that app runs OK first time but second time, it throws this error, any ideas what it means [Page_Error Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request.] Thanks jay – jay Feb 15 '12 at 19:11
