Is there a possibility to load .adf files to Quantum GIS?

adf is ESRI coverage. It takes not just one folder but several to make a coverage. – Brad Nesom Mar 21 '12 at 13:59
@Brad Nesom I am conscious of this. I have .e00 file, info folder (.dat and .nit files), and the proper one (with .adf files). That's why I am asking, what is the right way to add coverage file to Quantum GIS. – com Mar 21 '12 at 14:08

Arcinfo .adf files can be raster or vector.

Try Quantum's Add Vector Layer, select source types of Directory and ArcInfo Binary Coverage, and then select the directory containing the .adf files. There will be second dialog asking which sub-layers to add; coverages are a composite datatype that can contain any combination of points, lines, polygons, and annotation.

You can also add the .adf file directly, without choosing the directory type, but then you don't get to choose which geometry to load.

@Nick, it may be that the directory is not a valid arcinfo coverage or raster. Try using the command line ogrinfo and gdalinfoon the data and see what is says. Ex: ogrinfo z:\arcdata\coastline – matt wilkie♦ Apr 27 '12 at 19:07
