I've encountered problems while loading the OpenLayers plugin in Quantum GIS 1.7.4.

My hardware: Windows 7 Home basic 64 Bits

Seems there is some issue with the plugin and QGIS 1.7. I could not get it to work with 1.7 on windows either, but worked fine on QGIS 1.8. You can give it a try. To get 1.8, grab the qgis-dev package from OSGeo4W installer. – spatialthoughts May 29 '12 at 11:16
