I tried to install QGis on my computer (Windows XP Professional) but it does not work at all. I do get the installation wizzard and I can complete that, but nothing happens. After completion, the program is not on my computer. I know that normally two shortcuts end up on your desktop because I did it before on another computer. Now I get nothing and I searched for it everywhere.

The problem might be when you have to check which parts you want to install (there you can also download the Alaska and North Carolina datasets). The QGis Lisboa is checked there, but it is paler than the other ones because you cannot change it. I can not check it nor uncheck it. Maybe that is the problem? But what can I do about that?

The second part is definitely irrelevant. QGIS' checkbox is locked, so you can't install QGIS without QGIS. :) – lynxlynxlynx Jul 12 '12 at 20:14
Check the path the installer used to see if anything got installed — maybe just the shortcuts are missing. – lynxlynxlynx Jul 12 '12 at 20:15
What version of QGIS are you trying to install? What localization of Windows XP do you have. – Mapperz Jul 17 '12 at 13:36
