Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for cartographers, geographers and GIS professionals. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Is there an "almost always available" service URL for a public Catalog Service (CSW) available anywhere?

I'm keen to test CSW client capabilities without having to configure a CSW server.

Does this happen to be for your SSSI workshop ;) –  Nathan W Aug 23 '12 at 4:01

Mostly, but also for general reference. It's no use trying interoperability between two products for the first time just before it has become critical :-) –  PolyGeo Aug 23 '12 at 4:04

Many thanks Luke - I just expanded your URL to imosmest.aodn.org.au/geonetwork/srv/en/… to get exactly what I was after –  PolyGeo Aug 23 '12 at 11:01

You can also see a list of CSW (using pycsw) server deployments at https://github.com/geopython/pycsw/wiki/Live-Deployments

Thanks Tom - so far I have not been able to find a Profile to use with the CSW Client for ArcGIS that results in a successful search but I will keep trying. –  PolyGeo Sep 27 '12 at 10:37
