I'm trying to use QGIS to trace out an itinerary with a legend using color for the type of route and line thickness for the amount of traffic on the route. I have seen that it's possible to do things like this in ArcGIS with a bivariate legend. Is what I'm trying to do possible with QGIS?

My French is quite rusty, but I think (and please correct me if I am wrong) the question is: is it possible to create a map of a road network with colours and line widths assigned based on travel density along a route in quantum GIS? – sgrieve Sep 6 '12 at 12:27
The answer is yes, Here is a good guide (in English) showing how to scale vectors based on attribute table data… which could be applied to this problem. However, I cannot write enough French to convey this... – sgrieve Sep 6 '12 at 12:30
@sgrieve We're an English site, so please go ahead and post your answer in English. – whuber Sep 6 '12 at 14:22
My answer was just to read the guide I posted, it covers scaling of symbols based on attributes. What I meant was I couldn't translate the guide into French. – sgrieve Sep 6 '12 at 14:48
