What geoportals do you know built in commercial environment (ESRI ArcGis Server, Intergraph) and what do you know built with Open Source solutions (like geoserver, mapserver + Open layers)?

In order for this to be a successful question it needs to define what a "geoportal" is and why/how the commercial vs open source distinction is important. The community has little tolerance for he said/she said style of questions unless they draw out meaningful and useful information. – matt wilkie♦ Nov 8 '10 at 17:47

I have not seen a comparison documentation at any level (comparing websites). I think that the list is long on both sides for geoportals built with COTS, and with OS mapping engines. The question fails to ask about the data being open source. If you look at COTS geoservers with WMS or other openlayer solutions it coudl get even more confusing to ask if they are successful or not. As suggested... try to re-phrase your question.
