Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for cartographers, geographers and GIS professionals. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am attempting to display a map from geoserver on mobile device, for example an Android Smartphone.

I have already set my map to geoserver via localhost, but I really don't know how to call the map with my mobile device.

My friend told me to use wifi from my computer to transfer the map to my mobile device, but I am unsure how to do this

Can anyone help me?

Thank you

You will have to load the website, e.g the address of localhost, on your mobile device. –  Nathan W Sep 17 '12 at 10:33

  1. Connect your mobile device to a WiFi on the same network as your geoserver.
  2. Point your mobile's browser to your geoserver's URL (http://geoserverHostNameOrIP:8080/geoserver/...)

CaptDragon, I appreciate your suggestion, but I really wanted to develop a "Mobile GIS" on Android with a map of my own (shape files) that are on my GeoServer. Do you have any other suggestions? please help me. –  Johannes Oct 27 '12 at 20:20
