I was following the instructions on how to create highway shields from the "Interstate Shield Styles in QGIS" post to create highway shields for a project I am currently working on. However, whenever I go to add the style to the map I am working on, even though the setting is on the "on central point" it shows multiple shields on the line. Is there a step or a setting that I am missing?

Are you sure that your one line is not made up of multiple lines? – Nigel Law Dec 27 '12 at 11:32
Im not sure, the layers I am using are from the MassGIS website for roads. The same problem happens even when I try labeling the road, even if it is just one section of the road, the road name will pop up 20 times on top of each other. – LeeAnne Dec 27 '12 at 15:58
