I joined a MS Access database table to a GIS file. When I try to use symbology (categories) to represent a yes/no value which is in the table file (0/-1) it does not recognize it as a value.

What's the specific error you are getting? Is the Access file open at the time? – Geoist Jan 16 at 20:15

Perhaps outline the exact steps you have taken. What type of "GIS file" are you using? What field type are you using to store "0" and "-1"? – PolyGeo Jan 16 at 22:23
