I tried to replicate the example at OpenLayers WFS protocol: work with filters if the protocol is defined out of layer constructor and can't get it to work.

I copied the html page into a web application and ran it on the same server that geoserver was deployed to but can't duplicate it.

Can anyone give me ideas on things to try to get it to work.

Also posting the exact code you are using, the openlayers version and the WFS server you working against might be useful. – BradHards Jan 19 at 8:25
The overlay enabled by the wfs does not show up when I run it locally. I tried using the tasmania_roads layer but doesn't show up. – Mike Jan 22 at 21:21
