i was wondering if it was possible to manually plot routes on a self generated map. currently i'm following the switch2osm.org tutorial on how to build my own tile server. i've also found pgrouting but what i require is that as a user, you'd be able to plot a linestring on the map itself and can be then saved

Can you be more specific about which tools you are currently using? Otherwise I suggest first reading "How to Start Web Mapping?" gis.stackexchange.com/questions/8113/how-to-start-web-mapping – underdark♦ Jan 24 at 14:42
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I just followed the python geospatial development book by erik westra to learn how to build my own map, so i think it would be geodjango, postgis, mapnik, openlayers? did i get i right? – iamjoanel Jan 27 at 13:10
