I have a set of points from which i want to draw lines , the point layer has information about the angle and length of the line to be drawn.

This point layer is generated from a polygon layer as a result of Directional distribution ellipse tool of ArcGIS.

Now i want to draw lines originating from the point layer which will divide the ellipse into 4 equal parts.

any ideas on which tool to use or how do i do it?

I think you will need to use ArcPy geometry and some trigonometry. To be sure we understand what you are after it may be worth including a diagram. – PolyGeo Feb 11 '13 at 10:55
if you are interested in fun(coding) the GDAL/OGR can help – rashad Feb 12 '13 at 5:34
