I have X,Y data in Excel in decimal degree format. I'm applying my standard procees to convert them into shape file. My problem is the file is converting but in the resultant shape file either latitude or longitude becomes a zero value.

To me it is not exactly clear what you want. Can you provide a error-message or elaborate what exactly is not working. Also -> what is the "Same old process"? Depending on what you do there are of course different errors –  Curlew Apr 5 '13 at 11:02

I had also the same problem. I slolved that by these way. 1. U should enter the data as text not as number format even U r entering the number. There is option in excel. if it does not work plz send it to me and I will make it for u and send u. I will write it in detail of procedures how it can be done.thank u. –  user16885 Apr 6 '13 at 2:43

It's probably something todo with wrong decimal formats in excel (using the wrong decimal point), or one of your cells is formatted as text and not as number (or vice versa). Play around with those things.
