I have been sent a zipped folder containing files in a geodatabase format. To view them in ArcMap I've created a new file outside ArcCatalog with the extension .gdb and copied the unzipped files into this new file. Outside ArcGIS I can see all the files are present but when I try to preview in ArcCatalog there are no files in the new folder. I've also tried to 'Add data' in ArcMap but still nothing and I've also tried doing the whole copy and paste thing from within ArcCatalog but still no joy. Can someone help please?? What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!

When you open the .zip, what is the file/folder format? Perhaps there is a folder like "Folder.gdb" Does the zip simply open into a bunch of .gdbtable, .atx, .spx, etc? Or, third, are the file extensions .shp, .dbf, .prj, .shx? This will help us help you. – Barrett May 13 '13 at 12:55
The files requires the folder - your sender needs to re-zip and send again. – Mapperz May 13 '13 at 13:24
Did you refresh ArcCatalog after unzipping the files (Right-click higher-level folder > Refresh)? – Aaron May 13 '13 at 20:14
