I'd like write a .NET ArcObjects Add-In to generate shade from points, which represent structures or trees. The attribute fields include height & width. Solar azimuth/zenith are also calculated (this portion is complete).
I notice the topic has been covered for building polygons, but I wonder what the most efficient approach would be when dealing with points. My plan is to interpolate point coordinates using the height/width/azimuth data to create an oval-ish shade polygon, for which I'd have to figure out how to calculate the stretch between the base and top of the structure to represent as coordinate distance. Is there a better way, or any advice?
