I have a Shape-File with lines of streets. Now I want qgis only to show the categories: Type: primary and Type: secondary and Type: motorway.

How do I do this?

This doesn't work:

"type" = 'primary' AND "type"'secondary' AND "type"'motorway'

What do I do wrong?

Just try

"type" = 'primary' OR"type" ='secondary' OR "type" ='motorway'

you forgot some '=' , and also couldn't have roads beings motorways ans primary and secondary in the same time. Just a SQL logic problem
