I am trying to Extract long profile data in Matlab. I have followed the steps of this pdf.

Now, in Matlab

I passed the function

profile51(‘file_name’, ‘arcmap_directory’, ‘matlab_directory’, ‘n’);

and I am experiencing the error "starting point chosen geographic coordinates, out of bbounds of DEM , aborting". Where is the problem.

I am using ARCGIS 10.

Are you sure the endpoints of the profile are contained in your map's DEM? Also, you posted a shortcircuited link, so others will have a hard time following it — consider fixing it. – lynxlynxlynx Jun 11 '13 at 9:48
I am not sure. Do we have to do something to achieve it ? – user1263375 Jun 11 '13 at 13:48
You can't really do anything but either pick the points inside the DEM (so they have height data) or get a larger/extra DEM that includes their coordinates. If you're certain the points are inside, make sure you're using matching projections / coordinate systems. – lynxlynxlynx Jun 11 '13 at 14:10
I am not selecting anything 'out of the DEM'. Yea i guess im doing the projections wron. Can you please suggest me how to match the projections and coordinates system ? – user1263375 Jun 11 '13 at 14:58
Search this site, as there are plenty of question&answers on this general topic. projection projection-conversions – lynxlynxlynx Jun 11 '13 at 15:23
