I have an image stored in a db (postgres / bytea).

Is it possible to display (open) this image with a qgis action?
In Qgis I have a (postgis) layer open, one attribute is the id of the image in the image-table in the database. The image-table has no geometry, just the images as bytea.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is the image field in an already open layer or a different table? – Nathan W Jul 2 '13 at 6:12
Slightly off-topic: Another nice example for a python based custom form widget which will presumably be ready for QGIS 2.1 – Matthias Kuhn Jul 2 '13 at 6:37
