I'm looking for a web service providing a full address based on coordinates (and reverse).

I'm ready to pay for that service.

I don't want to use Google's API.

global or for a particular country? –  Matthew Snape Feb 25 '11 at 12:24
What is the size of your dataset? What is your preference in terms of platform/programing language? –  radek Feb 25 '11 at 12:43
@Matthew: Europe for a start, and it's on demand. People get localized using a device and the operateur want to know the address based on the GPS coordinates. It's for an emergency system. –  Pierre 303 Feb 25 '11 at 12:55

I would highly reccomend deCarta (I also work there). We powered google maps, yahoo maps and a ton of other people. We just announced new pricing. We expose our geocoding (and reverse geocoding) through many different apis. We also have worldwide coverage.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any other questions. I will be putting up the new XML samples later today (china standard time - I am here doing a workshop). We actually have other emergency systems running on our platform. Thanks Steve

The problem with DeCarta is, that you are not allowed to store the results in your database (Source: Email from February 2013) –  leo Feb 6 at 11:42
I don't know of any COMMERCIAL service that will let you do that. All of the charge by transaction and storing the values would basically undercut their revenue model –  TheSteve0 Feb 7 at 18:11
If you have objects you want to display on a map, it doesn't make any sence to ALWAYS query the geocoding service. Especially if they do not change. We are using Geocodefarm. They let you do this. –  leo Feb 8 at 11:27

I was also looking for international geocoding and checked out decarta and viamichelin. I couldn't make heads or tails of the viamichelin site so I moved on to decarta. I downloaded their api and was geocoding addy's in Denmark in no time. Their prices are the best I've found on the web. I called them for some more information and the CEO of the company called back was extremely helpful.

Go with DeCarta - first 1,000,000 geocodes are free, $2.80/1000 after that.

I suggest you try out GeocodeFarm (http://www.geocodefarm.com). You can always just past the address into the address bar the same as you would put it into a form and it will display in XML the output, but it is human readable:

000.00000 -000.000000

Maybe this will work for you.

The only issue I see is that you also want reverse geocoding, which I don't believe they offer. :/

GeocodeFarm now offers reverse geocoding –  Michael Aug 7 '13 at 20:13
They have very confusing terms of services though. geocodefarm.com/policies/terms-of-service –  Trufa Feb 18 at 14:12
