Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for cartographers, geographers and GIS professionals. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I found previous posts mentioning the same problem. However, I did not manage to solve the issue with the presented solutions.

I am using QGIS 1.8.0. I use a generated CRS (I temporarily set the project CRS to EPSG:3857; but changed nothing). The on-the-fly projection is enabled.

When I installed the OpenLayers plugin (through the QGIS interface), I managed to open the OpenLayers Overview and I had a look at the Google Physical layer. When i wanted to add the layer to the map, it took too long and I aborted the process.

The day after, OpenLayers Overview did not work. The window did appear in the bottom left corner but I couldn't visualise any layer. I received the error message: "Error loading page".

When I clicked the "add layer" button, I received the following error message:

An error has occured while executing Python code:

Does anyone have any idea of what I should do? Thank you very much. Elsa
