I need to parse some OSM XML data to get some nodes with their tags. Does a program or script already exist to do this? The result can be any format that I can parse to DB, e.g. XML, CSV, txt file with tabs. The solution must work with ~400GB file (full planet), and it would be extremely good, if it can split the output files by size. A solution which works on Debian is preferred, although I will take anything which already exists.

You could have a look at osmium/osmjs at github.com/joto/osmium. GDAL >= 1.10 (e.g. the ogr2ogr command line tool) can also handle OSM data, gdal.org –  Hermann Oct 3 '13 at 13:33
