I am faced with a problem for an assignment. I have tried restricting roads by using a restriction attribute with the following pre-logic script code with value = restricted

restricted = false
if [REST_STREET]= "Y" then
restricted = true
end if

The problem I am faced with when solving the closest facility is that these restricted roads do not allow contiguous roads to be traversable due to the restricted road intersecting with it.

I have based the restriction on this question How to restrict portions of road network from the analysis in ArcGIS 10 Network Analyst?. Maybe I should just delete the roads I do not need?

Have you taken into consideration the answer I gave in this post? – Alex Tereshenkov Nov 18 '13 at 9:59
I forgot to mention, but I am using a closest facility analysis (ie. DA Centroid to supermarkets) – S. Attig Nov 19 '13 at 3:23
It doesn't really matter what network analysis you use - you define the field for the streets feature class and then specify the query when loading the stops. – Alex Tereshenkov Nov 19 '13 at 6:09
I have decided to make it simple for myself by exporting a new feature class with just walkable (non-restricted) roads. The analysis that I am supposed to carry out involves finding access from Toronto DA centroids to all supermarkets. I know this is not ideal, but I am still learning how to master ArcMap. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it and will probably try understand it better during the winter holidays. – S. Attig Nov 19 '13 at 9:11
