I have a file geodatabase that a person gave to me for work. I try to open the feature classes in Arcmap 10.2 and some of it opens perfectly but with the others appears a message that says: Error opening feature class. Sometimes when I try to open the properties of the layers I get "Failed to edit the selected object(s)."

What can I do in this case?

Assuming you are using ArcGIS for Desktop can you tell us which version? – PolyGeo Nov 20 '13 at 21:42
Hi, and welcome to The best way to get a really good answer on this site, is to provide as much detail and specificity as possible. In this case, it is really critical to know what software you are trying to use, and then potentially the type of feature classes you have in your GDB. Also provide info about which featureclasses work, and which don't. This information can all be added as an edit to your original question. – Get Spatial Nov 20 '13 at 21:43
It sounds like the geodatabase may be corrupted somehow. You might try asking for the data in another format, like a Personal Geodatabase or as shapefiles instead. This would help you see if the problem is with the data, or more local with your software installation. – Get Spatial Nov 26 '13 at 16:23
