It is not a line layer. The "my_road_geodata" shows zones of noise pollution in the form of filled polygons, like in this webapp si2.nl/eu-kaarten/rdam - when cutting it by districts I just want to get the same map but cut in small puzzle pieces... so extracting the areas one by one and saving them in a file like district01 district02 ... would be what I am aiming for

if i choose input vector layer "my_road_geodata" and use as a intersect layer "districts_2011" it processes a while but i don't see the difference to the original. "Union" just crashed my QGIS :( In the end I would like to export just one district x in combination with the "my_road_geodata" - is there any tutorial out there?

I can open it with QGIS & ArcGIS. I had to manually add the CRS - the .kml export as in the above post worked well after projecting it to WGS84...

This was the tutorial I did, indeed - it worked with the given example but not with my own data... :/ I guess it must be a size/complexity issue there...

concerning the tiling: I haven't managed yet to tile the ESRI shape file since it exceeds the size (23.5MB)of online tools (5 MB) and export from QGis exported Tifs raise an error in MapTiler... any ideas?

Thanks for this very useful tip. I tried importing the shape into Geoserver but get a blank result in the preview. I am afraid the data might be too large or I chose the wrong style (line, polygons...) - how can I prepare this file to be best used by Geoserver?

Does tiling work in QGIS? And both on .kml and .shp files??
