comment How to add a tool as a layer in table of contents ArcGIS desktop 10.3
That's because you can't add script tools to the table of contents. I'd suggest taking a look at Jason's post here, which describes how to use Python Distribution Utilities to get your custom toolbox to show up in the ESRI system toolboxes: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/130772/…

comment Check fields data type before insertion to table
I'm assuming that pylist isn't normally static, but presented that way here as an example. I could be wrong though.

comment Using a Local Datum Plane (LDP) scale factor within ArcMap?
I had put this project on hold, but now need to come back to it. I don't understand how the Combined Adjustment Factor (CAF) is calculated. Could you provide more information?

comment BLOB TYPE in Arcmap
@sarah maybe I'm not understanding what you're trying to do. When you imported the excel file into ArcMap, it now exists inside that BLOB field in binary. The BLOB field is where attachments are stored.

comment Debugging RuntimeError: Object: Error in getting parameter as text from arcpy.GetParameterAsText()?
Why is there no GetParameterAsText(2)? Can you provide a screenshot of where you assign the data types to the script parameters in the properties? Also, if you plan on using Tkinter within ArcMap, you're going to have a bad time: geonet.esri.com/thread/51876

comment Making multiple fields NULL using Python in ArcGIS?
No, row[0] is actually identifying a field in the tuple. In the example above, row[0] is "YourField", and row[1] is "YourField2". So, it is populating None for every row in each field that you designate - this might explain it better: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/158958/…

comment Making multiple fields NULL using Python in ArcGIS?
@ChristopherHarrod yeah, instead of setting the row equal to None, just set it to whatever value you want that fits the field type. If it's a text field, you need to enclose the text in quotes, such as row[0] = "This is my text"
