comment Is there anyway to make GPModels with python scripts execute faster?
I would say this is not the norm. I set up a nearly identical model that includes your script and it runs in 1 second. This is against a point layer stored locally with 6k points and I'm selecting ~1000 of them. What happens if you specify a different layer?

comment Is there a no point symbology option in ArcGIS?
What's wrong with your current method? I guess it feels a little hacky but if we complained about all the hacky things ArcGIS makes us do we'd never get anything done.

comment Google maps kml and polygon eventclick error
Ah, OK. More info is always good. While all of my code is probably not applicable, the idea of adding your polyline before you add your kml should still be relevant. Can you give that a shot? Also maybe post a more complete code snippet?

comment Are North Arrows Pointless?
@geographika: It still points up. The only way that I know of to get a North arrow in ArcMap to not be up is to rotate the data frame the North arrow references.

comment How to split a polygon into multiple equal-width polygons in ArcMap 10?
Didn't realize fishnet had an "angle of rotation" parameter: help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/… Good suggestion.

Nice, I think that's it. Also, I see you're at PSU...I graduated from there in '04 with a BS in Geography...WE ARE!

@iant- you could then use one API (albeit esri's...) to interact with data served from both ArcGIS Server and other server side GIS packages.

comment Best practicies when employing a file geodatabase that is going to be used and edited by multiple users?
I would say keep each editor's data in its own fGDB...that, or petition whoever writes checks to pony up some $$ for an SDE license.
