comment How to calculate wait time on a one-lane road with two-way travel?
This and your other question seem to me as true traffic engineering problems rather than GIS ones. there are a lot of factors involved in such an analysis, such as arrival rate, speeds, type of traffic control, acceptable levels of service, peakhour factors, etc.

comment find edges inside and outside of polygon in NetworkX
Are you importing the routes and polygons as shp files? If so, can you identify which nodes the polygons are in and then do an intersection?

Can you show us some screenshots of what you have done and maybe we can better assess the situation that way?

comment NetworkX: Saving Shortest path of OpenStreetMap data as an OGR friendly format
Shapefile is part of the pyshp library so it worked for me as well but perhaps if the solution could be geared towards Fiona that'll be perfect :D

Answer works! Curious, do I need to import pyshp to do so? is pyshp part of Geopandas or fiona?

comment GeoPandas: return lat and long of a centroid point
Sounds good. The reason I'm using a dataframe is that i'm grouping my centroids by a field in my shape file as follows: for index, row in zones.iterrows(): if row['CMANAME'] == u'zone_name':

comment GeoPandas: return lat and long of a centroid point
Although the code works, it seems that list(...) is returning a lot more points than what I need. I have 30 zones so I should only have 30 centroids. when expanding to list(...) it's returning thousands of points

Are you looking for if field_a == 'foo' then field_b = 'new stuff'?

comment Finding Network Distance Between Specific Pairs
Unfortunately complicated questions like this will require Python or software packages like TransCAD that can let you answer such questions right out of the box. Perhaps, we can help you find the solution, IS your road data already in network form? do you have a list of the pairs you want to iterate over?
