How about if the entity that they're adding doesn't exist in real life?

@Sean - being able to perform network analysis, involved with pgrouting for example, or actually what is the mechanism to be able extend OSM data to what I want to do

comment What free programs should every GIS user have installed?
Most of the mentioned tools revolve around GIS dev., rather than GIS tools that I haven't heard of but should've. For the most part and except for one or two niche programs, the listed tools here and in this other Q revolve around "Creating GIS", rather than "Using GIS". They're also tools that you should know about anyways if you were involved with another type of development or GIS. My last gripe is the disconnect between GIS Tools for different OSEs: Arc vs. Else.

itoworld.com/static/gallery_traffic.html Watch the presentation they did as well. It's not a 100% what you're looking for, but it's a good starting point. On the other hand, what I have done before, is organize traffic by AADT as band widths, and then plotting queues or stoppage as elevation. You know you have an issue when you have a fat and tall band. Fat and not-tall bands indicate lots of traffic but good flow. short and tall bands indicate either issue with traffic signals or not enough lanes to cover the flow

What have you resorted to at the end? and on a semi unrelated matter, have you ever worked with Land use transportation models?

Yes Kevin, that's an excellent solution; however, it makes managing large maps a daunting task.

comment How can I make my data efficient and “light” to do 3D Visualizations in Google Earth?
I'd like to get away from the idea of a network link, we're not setup to doing so, and I don't think there is interest to using geoserver at the moment
