comment Problem accessing WFS 1.1.0 with Mapinfo
I checked it out meanwhile - that server really supports only 1.1.0

comment Problem accessing WFS 1.1.0 with Mapinfo
In addition to my previous comment: As said in critchlowli.wordpress.com/tag/mapinfo-professional support for 1.1.0 will be in upcoming 11.5.2. Download section of Mapinfos home page doesn't offer even update to 11.5.1. So asking from retailer may be your best shot.

1) Ask again from company, that gave WFS url 2) Ask from your MapInfo retailer

comment adding non spatial attributes using geoserver
WFS-T is ment for inserting both geometry and attributes into database (and it does it well), so there is no need for such non-standard workaround.

comment Lidar Elevations Data
Also, 5 mm accuracy doesn't make much sense, when you talk about measuring relief of landscape. Field has microrelief, vegetation etc, so height may vary more, than is your desired accuracy.

Another question: why is this area blacked out in Google's satellite view?

comment How do I set attributes when creating vectors using OpenLayers and WFS-T?
Yes that's correct - all attributes of feature are saved to according database fields. There's one more thing to remember - if you want to update attributes of existing feature, you have to set feature's state to OpenLayers.State.UPDATE feat.attributes.INVADED_BY_ARMY_ID = 42; /* Update state, if it is not set allready. Otherwise you may overwrite INSERT state */ if (!feature.state) feature.state = OpenLayers.State.UPDATE; saveStrategy.save();

comment Determing, whether WMS service supports CQL filtering
That seems to be the case. So I'm going to test, whether it's geoserver or not.
