I've had a career in GIS since 2006, but it's also a hobby where this site helps answer lots of those off-the-beaten-path questions I always come up with.

Does it disappear at all scales when zooming in and out?

comment Create “mean” line from multiple lines using QGIS
This sounds a similar to "conflation" and on this site there's been a few threads about it: gis.stackexchange.com/search?q=conflation do any of the questions and answers there get you closer?

comment “Phantom” features showing up in QGIS 2.4
The last thing I can think of is to uncheck the Render Caching... option in the Settings > Options > Rendering panel and test with that.

You can try backing up the shapefile, then loading a new copy that's made up of only the files that end in .shp .shx .dbf .prj - delete all the other files that aren't in that list.

There might be a spatial index on the shapefile that makes those old deleted features to show up.

comment SHP, SHX and DBF files became empty (zero byte) overnight on QGIS
That's really strange. What backups do you have to restore from? You left them in edit mode during the update? Might be a file system or operating system problem... More info might help.

comment QGIS choose contour line labels
Not sure if this is a duplicate, but can you have a look at gis.stackexchange.com/q/89501/1297 and gis.stackexchange.com/q/59778/1297 to see if those get you closer to what you're looking for? And then I think it would help your question if you provided some details on what you tried and maybe where it's going wrong.

comment Identifying a layer in qgis from clicking the canvas
I don't think it highlights them in the layer list, which would probably be helpful. That might be a good feature request, which can be filed at hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/issues once you register.

Are you hoping to use the Identify tool for that?

removed missing FID statement because ogr/gdal should always see it as a "special field"

Not sure, test it out! There's even a -fid flag that looks like it would make this even simpler.

comment NDVI derived from Landsat band 3 and band 4 using QGIS raster calculator shows the different range when opening in the ArcGIS
@WaseemAli There isn't a way to get styles from QGIS to ArcGIS as far as I know. But there is an "idea" somewhere in the ArcGIS Ideas page that requests this feature to convert SLD to .style and back and forth to increase interoperability.

Where did you see the ranges in QGIS? Just visually or in the metadata?
