comment PostGIS2 have automatic BBOX indexing?
What I understood from manual, that this would be the preferred way with postgis2. The srid is explicit on table, the type is given with the Point parameter. Also, the dimension is declared since POINT is a 2D type. POINTZ would be the 3d type as example. It too did the registration on geometry columns view. All in a small compact two value expression.

comment PostGIS2 have automatic BBOX indexing?
The explain analyse reported sequencial scan on table. So, no bbox comparison was used. But the test table has few rows of data. Need generate a larger test table with about 5000 rows to see some benefits of index.

comment Problem with extent of mapserver wms/layer
I also having problems with extent calculation with postgis data source too. Using manual extent maybe a problem with editable layers that change often.

comment Mapserver MapFile label at polygons, how to say “not repeat”?
This is a correct answer but I only added the processing directive. This caused the label to be positioned on centroid of feature.

comment Convert GeoJSON form EPSG 3857 to 4326 with JavaScript
Which client map library do you use? Willing to to this with pure javascript objects? Map libraries usually have helpers to do this.

comment How to transform a set of street-segments into city-blocks, with PostGIS2?
I guess he is willing to get the block or sector based on street boundary. Not a single urban lot for a single property. One solution could be resample a walker that plots a symbol at a start point and starts walking turning to his right until he comes back to the start place where he plotted the symbol. So you will get a polygon or closed boundary.

comment How to transform a set of street-segments into city-blocks, with PostGIS2?
Maybe, with the new postgis topology module, the street boundary, could be grouped together to form this polygon( closed area ).

comment Screen coordinates generated locate popup incorrectly
By some reason, maybe that the navigation control is consuming the click event or preventing him from firing . You could try add your listener on top( before ) other click listeners. I will update the response with an example to add the click before.

comment Create a point x meters from origin using st_translate in postgis
Mercator 3857 is metric system too. Values could change a little based on projection used. Since some projections change the shape of earth figure is expected some value change due to convertion from spherical to a plane(projected) reference system. As answered the srid used is just an example. You can use any that suits better your case.

comment google geocoding service combined with openlayers - not working
Well if google require a google map, just add the google layers as base layer and set it active when the search runs OK. SO you can use it with OpenLayers too.

comment request two layers in search action of one PanelForm
Can not you clone the formPanel object replacing the protocol1 with protocol2 and launch a second request then delete cloned object? So you click once and trigger two events? I do not use this library but have done things like you wish using other libraries.

comment Blank MapServer WMS image at low zoom levels in OpenLayers
Well, try replace the projection from epsg:3857 to epsg:900913. They look quite same but they are a little different. Copy the WMS request and paste into a new browser tab. With a little lucky, if problem on Mapserver, then he will report the error on output. This should be an problem with OpenLayers computed bounds.

comment Update a newly added column of a table using ST_Intersection as a filter
Please report the count of rows into your roads table: select count(*) from roads to know if it is too many roads the problem. Could you delete road outside country named 'Sudan'? Also how did you loaded the countries into database? Did you used the shp2pgsql to create sql file ?

comment Chart inside pop up window in Javascript
So the openPopup() is asynchronous? Because Javascript interpreter will not execute the next statement until the previous return except for callbacks that are executed later on time. An alternative if no event would be execute pooling for the existance of that "div" in a window.setTimeout loop. The event callback would be much more fast.

comment Nearest Neighbor problem in Postgis 2.0 using GIST Index (<-> function)
OK so I replaced the st_centroid with the && boundbox operator. I not pretty sure this is completely right but if there is one or two geometries that has boundbox intersects so they are the closer one choices. But in case of no boudbox intersections do not this should be excluded due to this filter?

comment Nearest Neighbor problem in Postgis 2.0 using GIST Index (<-> function)
So, do you agree that the top query is not equivalent to bottom query? Since the order will change because the operator <-> will ORDER BY st_centroid and the st_distance will give you a differente value? Different order can bring a different query as the first row to pass on DISTINCT ON clause? The valid query would be bottom one that needs speed improvement?
