comment How to uniquely identify instances of same Compatible Unit (CU) type in work location?
The Work Location’s ID, Compatible Unit’s DesignerID, and GIS Unit’s GisUnitID uniquely identify there instances within a Work Request. However, I've been told by a Designer Product Manager that these identifiers, while unique, cannot be depended on to be persisted. In fact, I was told that there isn't currently a reliable way to uniquely identify CUs within a design because the architecture was designed to be a parent-child relationship. I'm wondering if adding a unique identifier, like a GUID, to the extended data of each CU would be the best alternative.

The reason the DesignIDs were all coming back as zero was that I was traversing the CU Tree (CU Library) rather than the DesignTree. It seems reasonable that the DesignIDs would be 0 in that case.
