Well, it is making the tool work OR finding a method which works... I am happy with either of them. After your suggestion I checked, whether or not there is an output: there isn't. But I also read the in-tool protocoll, and there is an other error: "Lat/Long Location wird nicht unterstützt" (= "Lat/Long Location not supported"). But I don't know whether this is about the tool (r.param.scale) or about my SRTM TIFF.

Thanks for the idea! I discovered something similar: With GPSBabel it is possible to load many GPX files and store them in one single GPX file. And it is possible to load this big file in QGIS.

Maybe I am wrong, but my impression is: With GPS-Tools it is only possible to import one GPX file at once.

New day, new luck! First: Today I understand @mbostocks answer and finally managed to use the proper TWO flags (-s_srs AND -t_srs TOGETHER). Second: I initially worked in some exotic non-transferable (by ogr2ogr EPSG:21780) projection - after starting again with EPSG:21781 the reprojection to EPSG:4326 was possible. Hooray!
