comment openlayers leaflet and popup
I agree with againstflow, you can't have a map that will react with openlayers and leaflet functions in the same time.

To me, both are the same thing, but not sure you have to spend that much

comment resaving shapefile as WGS 84 EPSG:3857 doesnt align openlayer plugin
what software are you using to display your shapefile? To be clear, are you loading your shapefile into a OpenLayers.Layer.Vector object or are you using OSM basemap inside a software?

comment SQL query to have a complete geojson feature from PostGIS
@RyanDalton: GeoJSONLint seems to not be able to read unicode string and single quote have to be replaced by double quotes to past the test

comment Is it possible, and if so how, to effectively classify vegetation types using false near infra red imagery?
I think you'll have to search in literature about NDVI classification. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normalized_Difference_Vegetation_Index

comment ogr2ogr does NOT save “styles”, say “color”, information; how do I get around it?
there is no standard implementation of style in geojson format. Some applications however will use css to store it. Obviously, ogr2ogr do not have geojson style implemented.
