comment WCS elevation with Cesium + Geoserver
I'm trying the same method to try to display terrain in GeoTIFF format in Cesium. Are you using 16-bit signed integer GeoTIFF to serve the terrain behind your Geoserver? Or 32-bit float? Do both work?

comment Write stacks of GeoTIFF image to NetCDF by chunk size
Yes, you could use gdal to convert each geotiff to netcdf using gdal_translate. But by using the python code you can use gdal to read each geotiff and add to a netcdf file with a time dimension. If you don't have enough memory to read the entire geotiff, you could read each band and write each band to the netcdf file instead of each image all at once.

comment Write stacks of GeoTIFF image to NetCDF by chunk size
I think you've got some faulty logic here which could be giving your memory problems. you just want to read the image using gdal and then immediately write to netcdf. a=tmn.ReadAsArray(); tmno[itime,:,:]=a

just loop over an index. E.g. tmno[itime, k, :] = data_band and loop over k

you could write in chunks, but to avoid the memory issue it seems you would have to read from geotiff in chunks as well. I'm not sure you can do that.

Reading the whole image and then writing it should be faster than chunking it, unless the size of the image in memory exceeds that available for the process. Is that the case?
