It seems you need some 'using' statements also... Dont you find typing ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase.xxxx everytime quite time consuming and annoying?

No error message. I haven't tried the 32-bit version. Apparently I need to install a "missing" C++ package..gis.stackexchange.com/questions/30982/why-is-qgis-not-launching Just tried 32-bit, same problem. Its completely unresponsive.

comment How to create a KML that supports animated ground overlays?
My best suggestion would be to follow this commenter's advice: "gis.stackexchange.com/questions/72550/…; and attempt "to merge the multiple, static KML files you currently have into one KML file with multiple TimeStamp-ed Placemarks". As gdal2tiles produces the KML file, it would appear that that would be the tool to use. Sorry I can't offer much more than this. Good luck!

Number 2 always works for me. Used to use number 1, but found was too inconsistent. Never had a problem with 3.

@DevdattaTengshe Yes. Initial code was just: 'arcpy.env.overwriteOutput = True'

comment arcpy.env.overwriteOutput = True, not working for some reason
FWIW - I've used the 'append' function to create the AOI shp via an iteration process and I am deleting the individual locality shp as part of the iteration.

This still creates an individual shapefile for each locality. I think the append function will be suitable for my situation. Thanks for your greatly valued input.

comment How to Convert labels to DWG Cad file?
This is not doable with Python. By that I mean the "Convert Labels to Annotation" part of the process is not doable in Python. Currently I am trying to perform the same task as the OP. I have two separate scripts and am seriously considering learning C# to access its added functionality for this part.
