How to use ColorBrewer in ArcGIS 10? This thread is a bit old but I encountered the same result. "Add from file", window popped up saying toolbar had been loaded but was unable to find it in list of toolbars or commands. |

Solid Laptop Specs for running ArcGIS I also just added a 256GB SSD and notice a significant increase in performance using ArcGIS. My ArcGIS workflow is often read/write heavy so has always been my bottleneck. |

Which software to use to create professional fly-over/ fly-through animations? Jakub, once again I'm not surprised to find another excellent question and answer posting of yours that is exactly what I'm looking for. The Silver Valley animation is top notch. I was in Coeur d'Alene mining district in August on a project so extra cool. These posts are over a year old. Would anyone have updated info?? Thank you, Kerry |

Has anyone experienced appreciable performance increases in ArcGIS Desktop by using a RAM Disk? I had an SSD on my company laptop and I miss it. Everything was faster. I 'upgraded' to workstation 8-core, 8GB, 64bit from a 4-core, 4GB, 32bit machine (both manufactured in 2011). Just couldn't take all my data with me. So bye-bye SSD. :( I'm going to look into the DataRAM Ramdisk. Thanks for sharing. |

Is Hillshade option in ArcMap rubbish or is it me? I've used this a few times recently. Very nice. Added to my go-to bag of tricks. Thanks for sharing. |

What is the most annoying fact about the GIS market/industry? All the above, plus no support for true curves. |

Are there any 3D GIS which exploit consumer level 3D HDTVs? Thank you for the replies, very much appreciated. I decided to apply the money on size (70") and monitor developments over time. I talked with additional peers in my firm and the consensus seems to be, not worth the effort at this time except for specialized applications. One idea that came out of this, we may investigate a 3D capable projector and share between offices. Thanks again! |
