Python script has execution error first time through on a JoinField, but not the second time So perhaps I shouldn't worry about inconsistency in its return value if I'm not even supposed to be using it? |

Python script has execution error first time through on a JoinField, but not the second time What's frustrating is often I want to know why this ends up working the way it does but because of ESRI/ARC quirkiness or lack of documentation, I'll probably be spinning my wheels unless someone can shed some light. |

Python script has execution error first time through on a JoinField, but not the second timearcpy.env.workspace is set, in the above example to D:/temp/. Should I not be referring to a feature class by a variable and instead always by a path? |

It it possible to uninstall IDLE from a ArcGIS 10.0 install? Nirsoft's ShellExView was not able to find the context menu shell extension for the python files in this case. Tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions, where each found extensions that the other didn't. |

It it possible to uninstall IDLE from a ArcGIS 10.0 install? I removed the first four entries you mention, the fifth did not exist. Searching the registry for "IDLE" yielded no other results. Shell extension is now gone. |

How to use ArcGIS functionality in Python without running ArcMap (e.g. separate editor/environment) None. I accepted the Eclipse suggestion since that's the way I went and preferred. I only answered my own question to document the setup process. Any reason my answer should be edited into the question? Perhaps this should be a CW? |

How to use ArcGIS functionality in Python without running ArcMap (e.g. separate editor/environment) Is there much involved with getting Eclipse + PyDev to work w/ ArcGIS functionality? Other answers seem to indicate some peculiarities with using the non-Arc installed Python? |

How to use ArcGIS functionality in Python without running ArcMap (e.g. separate editor/environment) I confess this seems almost more of a Python question and also betrays my ignorance of the Python environment, but hopefully the answer is of use to others who are new to ArcGis + Python! |

ArcCatalog 10.0 complains that spatial references don't match between a feature dataset and a feature class that have the same coordinate system? I'm seeing this problem - even if I create the Feature Dataset and use the import mechanism and selected the feature class, I still can't drag/copy the feature class into the newly created Feature Dataset without the aforementioned error. |
