I am a geography Ph.D. student at Arizona State University, with interests in FOSS, big data, spatial algorithm implementation in python, visualization, the application of cartographic techniques / spatial analysis to planetary data (Moon, Mars, Titan, etc.), and remote sensing.

My primary research focuses are in the geocomputation domain.

comment how to create graphs while running python with ArcGIS 10
instead of import pylab you can use import matplotlib.pyplot as plt. Then the calls will be plt.plot(), etc.

comment ArcPy Multiprocessing 000714 - Working in Debug Mode
@Luke Sounds good. I think what is happening: User installs 64-bit python (via ESRI geoprocessing or otherwise). Windows is setting .py files to open using the more recent installation of python. When background geoprocessing occurs, Arc* is opening the most recent python. So, a repair fixes the issue. So does changing the 'open with' property of the .py file.

@Luke Was the reinstallation of the 32-bit Python via a python installer or an Arc installer? I will give a reinstall a try. The only change I made to Arc's python was the installation of SciPy, but perhaps that has caused some issue.

@EvilGenius Unfortunate to hear that that is the necessary route. Not surprising, but unfortunate.

comment ArcPy in_memory\ vanishing from ToC
updated - can you update your answer with the datatypes you are passing in? It amazes me that this works in 10.2 and fails in 10.1.

Using: res = arcpy.PolygonToRaster_conversion(roi,abundance,rasterized,"MAXIMUM_AREA","",cell‌size) had no effect. Replacing "MAXIMUM_AREA" with "" also had no effect.
