Disappearing Point Features in Geoserver using WMS @MWrenn I'm not sure so won't attempt an answer, but exporting the data to another format should help determine if the current store / format is the problem. Perhaps try opening your Shp in ArcMap or QGIS, restricting the area to your example's bbox, then inspect the attributes of the contained features - do these include any special characters that might be affected by encoding? |

When I try to do a WMS request to geoserver using the leaflet API I am getting a format related error I once saw something similar with a WFS GET request to GeoServer - the client passed in an XML fragment for the <filter> parameter and GeoServer got upset because filter was namespaced (<ogc:filter>) but because the fragment didn't include namespace declarations GeoServer couldn't figure out what ogc: meant. It would be helpful if you could use Fiddler or similar and update your question with the full set of request parameters. |

Disappearing Point Features in Geoserver using WMS Can you verify that the values in VENUE_TYPE are valid / consistent? The inconsistent results you're seeing could be due to features being returned in a different order (due to slight differences in the bbox) and one of them is 'bad' in some way, causing the rendering to stop before it hits Atlanta. It might be wise to test exporting your data to a different format then 1) checking everything moved as expected and then 2) re-testing your filter / render |

Query Layer with user-defined (dynamic) parameters in ArcGIS 10.1 @maucacau ... you can test the layer definitions approach through your REST interface, e.g. http://<server-name>:6080/arcgis/rest/services/<service-name>/MapServer/export The Layer Definitions syntax is something like 0:TITLE LIKE '%Something%' AND SOMEDATE > '05-Nov-12';1:TITLE LIKE '%Something%' AND SOMEDATE > '05-Nov-12' where 0 and 1 represent layer IDs. The date format in my example is Oracle-friendly |

Query Layer with user-defined (dynamic) parameters in ArcGIS 10.1 @maucacau I'm afraid I can't give great answers but I'll do my best. If your join is in the database (e.g. the Query Layer query has joins, or your Query Layer is based on a db view which has joins) you simply treat the result as a single table, in which case A.param1 and B.param1 would need to have unique field names. I don't know what happens if the join is defined in the MXD / ArcMap. I believe the SQL syntax is whatever your underlying db supports, which should include common functions. Next comment... |

Query Layer with user-defined (dynamic) parameters in ArcGIS 10.1 a Query task won't change what's displayed in the map, only what is returned in a query result set |

Changing infoWindow style in ArcGIS JavaScript API (v3.2) @Craig Chrome's developer tools show me every CSS style that applies to the elements. Transparency didn't seem to be mentioned, and I couldn't see any references to images that might be transparent |

What is a good learning source for programmer who wants to understand the infrastrucre of map based web map? if you take GeoServer, or any other WMS / WFS capable map server, and OpenLayers you might be able to do everything in JavaScript and HTML without involving .NET. .NET is also a little inconvenient if you're running GeoServer as it's a java application, so you would probably need Apache/Tomcat and IIS running in parallel which seems a little redundant |

ArcGIS Server 10 not publishing map services How is your MXD referencing the server's directory where the data store sits? Is it by a mapped drive like z:\data\..., or a UNC path like \\servername\share\data\...? If it's a UNC path everything should be OK. Anything else and ArcMap and ArcGIS Server will not both be looking in the same location. |
