I am a conservation biologist (with 15 years international experience) who is now working in the Spatial industry. One of my projects was awarded the GITA Australia and New Zealand Spatial Excellence award for 2013 and Highly Commended at QSEA. I have presented at several GIS and Disaster Management conferences in Australia since I moved in 2010.

I am focused on automating large processes using python along with ESRI/Mapinfo and open source GIS tools that complement the strengths of each other. I also work in Disaster Management and risk mitigation.

comment FME - set symbology in TAB files in a directory
Thanks, I tried this but no luck. It just doesn't write or overwrites the same file. I would like to just overwrite each file or if necersary create a new file with same directory structure as the input. I have included the output from the system.

comment Clip and copy files to same directory structure using OGR/GDAL with Python
point is that even the clip on the shp doesn't seem to work. The next issue will be dealing with the different file types individually and finding something similar in OGR as arcpy.List.

Thanks. I will try this. How do I automatically deal with non-shp files? i.e I want it to work on all files that it can read such as tab, grid, ecw, tif etc.
