Do you have access to the original height data?

comment QGIS failing to complete clip or intersect
+1! QGIS usually hasn't crashed unless there is a "crash dump written" error message. Some tasks just really take quite some time...

comment GWC tiles getting deleted for grouplayer when i change one layers style that is associated with group layer
I have to admit, we just recently set up a GeoServer in my municipality (I'm an urban planner, with lots (!) of help by a smart IT guy), and most of the documentation is good, but not great. There was a lot of try and error involved, especially when it comes to GWC...

comment How do I draw the arrow on the line using SLD of Geoserver?
There is a grey checkmark underneath this question's voting buttons. You need to click it (it'll turn green) to mark your question as answered in GIS SE's system. Thanks!

comment My layers are not visible after restart geoserver
This is most probably not a Geoserver, but a server permissions problem. We had similar problems (our installation lost some, but not all settings after every reboot), it turned out that our installation lacked the necessary rights to write all of its config files.

You're welcome! In this case, could you accept the answer?

Are the arrows always at the end vertices of each line?

comment How to build custom CRS to export QGIS to Google Fusion Table
This is not a CRS problem. It looks like Google Fusion is expecting KML files - maybe you should try saving your data as KML instead of csv?

comment Rendering process failed null
We had a couple of similar problems while setting up our GeoServer, mostly caused by Java and Tomcat configuration problems. After checking this (thankfully I had an IT colleague for this) - will a simple shapefile with just a number of polygons render? Maybe your data is corrupted...

comment Multiple Layers in Geoserver
Would you mind sharing your SLD-file somewhere? Maybe there is some other error in there. Also, these two links might help you along (if you don't already know them): Polygon styling and text styling.

comment Multiple Layers in Geoserver
So you are stacking three vector layers above a raster map of Europe? Fonts and colors shouldn't change because of this, do you really use the same SLD-styling for all vector layers?

comment How to avoid random transparent pixels in georeferenced grayscale raster images?
You mean manually in GIMP or Photoshop? I though about that, but it deemed to be a rather inelegant solution. Also, I have GeoTIFFs, but creating some world files wouldn't be too hard, I guess (just to keep my georeferencing).

comment Display Point Labels in QGIS
You might also want to use round(decimal, places) for prettier labels, e.g. round(X,2)||' - '||round(Y,2)

Oh, I just realized that I totally missed the letter "m" in "1:10m scale" up in the question... just ignore the second half of my first comment, please!

comment Sourcing GIS data from First World War (WW1)?
I just spent an interesting afternoon in the current WW1 exhibition in the German National History Museum in Berlin a few weeks ago. They had lots of historical maps, but they were all at least 1:1000, mostly 1:10.000 and up.

Not that I knew about any such repositories, but what kind of data are you looking for? Frontlines? Old cadastral maps? Battle plans? and 1:10 is a really, realy big scale. Even a floor plan for common shed is at least 1:200...

comment Auto populate field as concatenation of other fields
Exactly. I love to open a dbf file, temp save it as .ods file, and then work away with self-updating IF/THEN formulas, concat-operations etc. When your done, just make sure everything is correctly sorted, and save as dbf again. The formulas will be lost, of course, and only the values will remain - voila!

Actually, I meant "use the field calculator to update your FID column before switching to Calc". I am a big fan of Calc, to be honest - I did some demographic work a while ago, and changing age groups or counting certain populations is just so much easier in Calc, because there is less of an interface in the way (especially if you're quickly testing various alternatives). This might change with the new field calculator bar in 2.4, tough.

As long as you have a correct FID field (use the field calculator in QGIS before switching to Calc) you can resort your dbf in Calc as often as you like. Just remember to restore the correct order before saving - otherwise your attribute data will be mixed up.
