comment I'm converting a raster to TIN and a large section of it didn't convert properly (ArcGIS 10)
A trick to aid in verification of the original DEM is to create Slope and Hillshade rasters - these can often show up discrepancies which aren't immediately apparent when viewing the DEM

comment Interpolating vertically in 3D analyst
Great question. This sounds like trilinear interpolation - if so do the algorithms on that page help?

for bonus points, use the Warp command in a script to automate this: arcpy.Warp_management(inImage,"'0 0';'{0} -{1}';'{0} 0'".format(width, height),"'{0} {1}';'{2} {3}';'{2} {1}'".format(west, north, east, south),outImage,"POLYORDER1","NEAREST")

Do you want to put that as an answer instead of a comment, and I'll accept it (might be easier to find, etc)

Thanks, great tip. I notice arcpy seems take the centre of each pixel (an 849 x 955 image is reported as -0.5, -954.4, 848.5, 0.5)

You could use an IF statement to check whether the value is null - if so, use some other value to signify that there is no value

Glad it helped. What's the context of the <Null> - where is it causing a problem?
