comment How to dissolve geodatabase map across two subdivision levels in Arcgis 10.2
You could use an IF statement to check whether the value is null - if so, use some other value to signify that there is no value

Glad it helped. What's the context of the <Null> - where is it causing a problem?

Thanks for the tip - however, this is what I was doing in the second screenshot of the original post, where you can see the max value of the ramp doesn't match that of the label.

comment How to use variables in arcpy tools which quote the variable name
@PolyGeo I tried exporting from a model - this sets a variable for the FC, but ignores this and uses the full FC path in the CreateTIN line anyway...

Thanks, this looks to be just what I need. Unfortunately I'm finding that it doesn't actually seem to work - although the range in the Symbology dialog now correctly shows the new min/max, the symbols on the map are unchanged (0.47 is still red). I'll test it some more then log a support call if necessary.

comment How to vary the transparency of symbols within a single layer in ArcMap?
very nice, and thanks for the detailed write-up. It's funny when an open-source product can do something an expensive one can't... Unfortunately I need to use ArcGIS for this client project.
