Can OpenStreetMap replace Google Earth? @underdark Although there are the MapQuest Open Aerial tiles at developer.mapquest.com/web/products/open/map ; they have better coverage in the US than most other places. |

What restrictions on KML/KMZ upload exist in Google Maps API v3? If you open up Firebug in Firefox, or Developer Tools in Chrome, and go to the network panel (net panel in Firebug), you'll see a 500 Internal Server Error on for a request to maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js/… url]&callback=[whatever]&token=[whatever]. There's more on this issue at code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/… . |

How to fix distortions in rendered OpenStreetMap maps? @Rootosaurus Yes, I was thinking of 900913, but I think it recently got a 4-digit EPSG code, so I didn't want to write 900913. It is based on meters, and is probably the best projection for any project that is destined for the web. Here in the U.S., I also use the State Plane coordinate systems for large-scale projects. |

QGIS - Change unit of measure from degrees to meters Also, make sure you check the "Enable 'on the fly' CRS transformation" box if you want QGIS to dynamically reproject your layers (i.e. as you work, rather than reprojecting them and then working with the projected data). In QGIS 1.7+, this will work for both vectors and rasters; in older versions, it will only work with vectors. |

Snap line layer to network in QGIS or PostGIS Thanks; is there a way to make this snap lines to lines? I don't think the linear referencing functions will work. (I've added a clarification to the original question). |
